Disciple Driven Church

We exist to facilitate reformation by launching disciple making movements across America.

Generational Separation

God designed the family to function as a mix of generations. He then refers to the church as a family. God’s design was for the generations to live and worship Him together. In the recent past this changed within our society. The destruction of the generations has been one of Satan’s most effective tools against God’s people.

A simply history lesson will show s where we got the modern idea of age segregation. The idea can be traced back to Charles Darwin and the Darwinian theory of evolution. Working from the ideas in that theory Ernst Haeckel developed the recapitulation theory. This theory stated that the human embryo recapitulates the evolutionary stages as an embryo. This theory has now been soundly defeated by modern biology. Working from this theory before it was debunked, G. Stanley Hall formed a biologically based ideal of human development. Hall’s work became the foundation for much of the modern education methods of today.

As much of the modern education system rushed to this new ideal of age segregation as the model of education, the church also followed along. Today it is nearly unheard of that we teach many ages in one setting. Where that does take place it is seen by many as an inferior alternative. We have a hundred-year track record to see if these theories have helped to produce more Godly offspring.

While many cognitive skills clearly develop at different rates in different ages we must look at what has been lost. If cognitive ability were the only desired outcome then this position would not be required. God has interest in more than just intellect. Much has been lost through age segregation in the schools and the church. Children are put in a place of conflicting spiritual authority. Many that have been raised in this system hold little regard for the elderly in our society. The generation gap is widening and it is not by God’s design or desire. We firmly believe that the church should be a place of strengthening the family and the bonds between generations. Character development happens as the generations gather for prayer, praise, worship, and teaching within our congregations.
